2. Alzheimer's Diary

My second work was Alzheimer's Diary by Steve Gold.
It was a short play of 15 minutes and I worked with Korean actresses.

This is a story about an Alzheimer patient and her daughter. They look back upon the past and talk about it. One of the biggest problem is, once the Alzheimer symptom appears, it is getting more serious. There is no cure so far.

What should we do when we are attacked by this kind of difficulty? I wanted to focus on two things in directing this performance. First is the struggling! We always have to do our best, whatever happened.
The second thing is that I tried to make a certain relationship between, on the one hand, young and old, on the other hand, U.S. and Korean culture. That's why I introduced some Korean children songs that, not only implicates the remaining memories in the old woman's mind, but also represents a kind of diversity of culture.
